🎉 July Meeting + Summer Swap News! 🎉
July 12th, 2025 - 1PM-4pm
8029 North Oak Trafficway KCMO 64118
📅 HAAS KC July Meeting – Don’t Miss It!
Join us for our next monthly meeting as we dive into the world of fish breeding with our very own club president, Tim Eckerley!
🧬 Topic: Beginner’s Guide to Breeding Egg Scatterers
Tim will walk us through the basics of breeding species like rasboras, tetras, danios, and barbs—those sneaky little fish that scatter their eggs and leave the rest up to nature. If you’ve been thinking about trying your hand at breeding, this is the perfect place to start.
🎙 About Tim:
Tim Eckerley is the President of HAAS KC and a longtime aquarist known for regularly breeding Celestial Pearl Danios (and bringing them to swaps and auctions!). He’s also a pond guru with years of hands-on experience raising fish both indoors and out.
🗣️ Tim’s talk will be short and sweet, so we may have time to cover an additional topic or open discussion during the meeting. We’ll keep everyone updated as the agenda fills out—stay tuned!
🏆 Bowl Show Theme: South American Fish
From corydoras to apistos, bring your favorite South American species to show off!
👉 Reminder: Bowl shows are temporary displays only. Please ensure your fish live in safe, appropriate, and enriched environments at home.
🐟 Come learn, hang out, and connect with fellow hobbyists!
🛒 Summer Swap Table Registration is OPEN!
Our big Summer Swap is coming up this August, and seller table registration is now LIVE! If you've got fish, plants, tanks, or gear to move, grab your spot before tables fill up.
Open to both members and the public—spread the word!

Side Note: We still have room for another topic and speaker, if youre interested let us know your what you'd like to educate us on. Tim might start a new thread for this discussion.

Bob from Manhattan will be bringing water iris and water lilies to the mini-auction on Sat. Bob has done this before and they are always big. They are hardy and the colors are unknow but the Irises are more than likey yellow and the lilies pink. You may want to bring a bucket or two to bring home your plant booty.

This time I’m actually going to be able to make a meeting finally! I’m in the market for Cories and crypts if anyone wants to add some to the mini auction or sell to me directly. I’ll be bringing some parrot’s feather since I have a crazy excess.

I am so so bummed I miss this — and will miss next month, too! Do we by chance record the meetings? If so, I’d love to be pointed to where I could watch it.

Also super bummed I missed those plants… can’t wait to start scaling up my tanks and tinkering with ripariums.

Thanks!

Kyra
