Welcome to the Heart of America Aquarium Society of Kansas City! Our organization was founded in 1950 by a group of passionate aquarium enthusiasts with a mission to educate and share knowledge about aquatic plants, fish, and invertebrates. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert in the hobby, our society is the perfect place for you to connect with like-minded individuals, share experiences, and make new fishy friends.
We hold monthly meetings every second Saturday of the month, featuring guest speakers who share their aquatic knowledge. Our meetings are open to the public, so even if you’re not a paid member (HAAS+), you’re more than welcome to join us in the fun. Additionally, our general meetings feature a Themed Bowl Show and Mini Auction, providing a great opportunity for our members to showcase their aquatic pets and participate in a friendly competition.
Our society also offers Breeders Awards Program (BAP) and Horticulturalist Award Program (HAP), designed to expand your knowledge and expertise in breeding fish and aquatic plant husbandry. These programs offer a fun way to share your knowledge with the club and engage in friendly competition amongst members.
Throughout the year, we also hold two auctions (Spring and Fall) and two swaps (Spring and Summer) that are free to attend. We encourage the general public to join us for these events and take advantage of the opportunity to meet fellow hobbyists, buy and sell aquatic pets and plants, and expand their knowledge.
To stay connected with fellow hobbyists, we invite you to join our forum and attend our meetups. Come and be a part of our vibrant community and explore the fascinating world of aquatic plants, fish, and invertebrates.
