A long time ago I started my BAP journey really for only one reason.  It was fun.  There was a small group of us in the club that started a very friendly competition of breeding fish and submitting them to the BAP. I never enjoyed the hobby more than while I was breeding raising and selling off the excess fish.  Money was never a part of the formula for me and not really for any of us.  We got to experience the process of learning about new fish species and sharing our successes and failures with each other.  After several years of being away from focussing on breeding and raising fish due to physical moves, health issues and dealing with unknowns in my life I have dipped my toes back into breeding fish again.  It brings me much joy to collect, breed and raise new species.  It is really what my drive in the hobby is all about.  I know it is not that way for everyone but I hope if you are in this group that you are at least having fun and enjoying the fish and the people in the hobby.  I have started some new friendship while I am continuing to enjoy many old ones.   I am now over 70 and competition is not much of a drive but the fun I have seeing new fish having babies in my fish tanks is as strong as ever.  Recently I submitted my first BAP form in years to Mikey.  It was not an easy task as I no longer have Microsoft office and so figuring out to get the form printed and to him was a challenge.  I bred Panda Corys as this submission.  I now have Clown Killifish babies and they will be my next submission soon.  Next will be another species of Killifish so I can check the mop spawning killi varieties class of the list.  Not sure if I will complete any other categories but who knows.  I think this will be the 12th category for me so there are more but soil spawning Killi are not likely to be something I try again so I will never complete them all but that is okay because I am doing the most important with my hobby, I am having FUN!   I hope you are too.
