Hey everyone,
Here's a little update on the Iwagumi Aquascape, it's been a few days now. I actually didn't fill it up immediately after coming home from the meeting. I ended up waiting till Sunday to fill it and set everything up. I had bought this aquarium used, and it came with a canister filter. Unfortunately, I didn't go the canister filter route, I felt like a canister might be too strong and would kick up the gravel. So I went with this nano internal filter, which seems to be enough for now. Co2 is pumping, I will probably adjust might light cycle for a bit. It's next to a window, so it might now need as much light, currently running the lights for 5 hours.

Sidenote: i forgot who asked, in reference to using acid to etch the stones, the acid that's used is muriatic acid. Here's a YouTube tutorial on stone etching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FNDndjzgSU

And here's a pic of the tank.

Hey all!

Kyra here.

I started an emersed plant setup on Mother’s Day 2025 and moved it in for the fall. It is looking great! Well, all except for my ludwigia repens that was ravaged by a single caterpillar that took me 2 days too long to find. It ate all the leaves in that amount of time ! But they’re growing back.

Anyway, I can’t believe how easy this is. Currently I have one tote going with: one echinodorus, one crypt wendtii, a couple Bucephalandra, a couple Java ferns, hygrophilla difformis, ludwigia glandulosa, “mint Charlie”, rotala sp, and ludwigia repens. I have another tote I’m trying to grow: red root floaters, salvinia minima, hornwort, and riccia.

Maybe someday I’ll start more totes to feed my addiction! 😂

I can post pics if interested. Would love to see other setups and hear pointers/details about them. I have a lot I want to learn!

Thanks!
