Mopani wood

Rescaped 29tall with mopani wood (soaked, numerous changes per directions..now the lighter wood section, underside, has developed a cloudy type "gel" with looks like air bubbles.. suggestions??

It’s a naturally occurring biofilm. Most driftwoods will do this the first time being soaked. Nothing to worry about, just unsightly for a bit. You can scrape it off, just make sure your filter or powerhead are off so you don’t float around everywhere. Some fish and shrimp will eat it.

I have heard that wood that has a sugary base often create more of this biofilm. Things like grape stems and such are notorious for this.
