Filstar Fx3 gasket kit, where to find

Hey, so I'm setting my 75 up, and was planning to use my filstar fx3 on it. The filstar has been boxed up, and the impeller gasket is shot. In trying to find a replacement, I'm coming up with nothing. I live in Topkea, so my options for LFS are 1, and there's Petsmart and Petco of course, but they don't have them. I can't find them online either. Found Arizona Aquatic Gardens saying they have them, but I'm never ordering from that place again, they also want an obscene amount for shipping. Anyone have any ideas? TIA

Google Filstar XP Gasket Kit. What comes up is a complete gasket/O-ring kit that fits all Filstar models. Lots of places come up having this item, including Amazon. I also do not care to deal with AAG. The thing about on-line buying is you might have shipping charges that are as high as the price of the item! UPS, USPS, FedEx have a floor rate for profitably handling a package, regardless of size. This is to be expected. If you need to buy some supplies like filter media, fish food, alga scraper, etc, or if you are looking for an excuse to get a new light, or a digitally controlled heater for your new 75 gal setup, you might be able to run up the shopping cart total that gets you free shipping from a hobby-specialist vendor. The item you need is available; it's just going to have a cost on it you might not have been expecting. Also, it's possible the LFS might be able to get you one of these kits from his wholesaler. That could take some time and you'll pay inflated retail, but you would avoid the shipping charge.

Paul, thanks, but I didn't explain myself well enough. I have scoured the internet trying to find it for sale it is out of stock everywhere. The only place I can find it that says it's not out of stock is the Arizona aquatics, and frankly I don't trust the website to be accurate about it's stock information. I've sent an email and left a voicemail for API in order to determine if the gasket kit is even still available. Thanks again.

Heard back from API today. They have discontinued the gasket kit, and have nothing to replace it. You can get it from Rena aquatics for $50 plus something like $25 shipping "while supplies last". Anyone have a diy idea? It's a 9.5cm round spot. That's about 5.74 inches. I tried a couple o rings from Lowe's. A 5.5 that was too thick and a 5.75 that was too loose and thin. This is a great filter so I'd like to be able to use it. Thanks.

Difficult to accept that API won't support one of the best canister filters in the hobby. I wonder if this means they will be discontinuing the XP line. I have three XP3s and an XP4. I am not currently using them, but have expected that I might need them in future. So I am very disappointed. Good luck with this.

Yeah, I feel bad for anyone that buys one of the many available online. It's a great filter, and I'm going to keep working to figure something out. I'll let you know if I do.

If you still have the broken gasket I found a video on YouTube showing that you can repair it using superglue. I did try it on my xp1 and xp3 filters and it works like a charm.
